MLB Draft 2026: Tracking Tennessee Baseball's Top Picks and Signings (2026)

Tennessee baseball is gearing up for the 2026 MLB Draft, and the excitement is palpable. With another expected first-round pick and a long list of potential selections, the Volunteers are poised to make a significant impact on the draft. The draft begins with Rounds 1-4 on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, followed by Rounds 5-20 on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET. Television coverage will be available on the MLB Network and MLB.com, with the first 10 picks of the first round also airing on NBC.

One of the most intriguing prospects is Jared Grindlinger, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder who committed to Tennessee in April. At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Grindlinger is the highest-ranked prospect in Tennessee's 2026 class and was ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the nation by Perfect Game. His younger brother, Trent, is a freshman catcher at Tennessee, adding a unique family dynamic to the draft.

Another standout is Trevor Condon, a star outfielder and Tennessee signee who was ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the nation by Perfect Game. At 5-foot-11 and 178 pounds, Condon is a force to be reckoned with, and his selection in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals is a no-brainer.

The Volunteers' ace in 2026 was Tegan Kuhns, a draft-eligible sophomore who took a major step in the spring with a 5-5 record and 3.56 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) spanning 81 innings pitched. Kuhns struck out 106 and walked 16 with an opposing batting average of .254, earning him second-team All-SEC honors.

Kaiden McCarthy, a Vermont native and ESPN's No. 52 prospect, is another intriguing prospect. McCarthy was the top-ranked player from Vermont in the 2026 class and was ranked as the No. 52 overall high-school prospect. His reclassification to the 2026 class made him eligible for the MLB Draft this year.

As the draft approaches, the excitement is palpable. Tennessee baseball is poised to make a significant impact, and the draft will be a showcase for some of the nation's top prospects. From Jared Grindlinger to Tegan Kuhns and Kaiden McCarthy, the Volunteers are set to make their mark on the MLB Draft, and the future looks bright for Tennessee baseball.
